Reasons For A 100% Tobacco-Free Pride Policy
Tobacco-Free Pride events reduce the amount of toxic waste that is thrown on the ground each year.
Tobacco-Free Prides provide freedom from secondhand smoke for all, but especially for those with HIV/AIDS, heart disease and asthma. Seniors and youth are particularly vulnerable.
Tobacco companies have a long history of targeting LGBT communites through event sponsorships and ads at Pride festivals. Ads in LGBT media depict use of tobacco as a normal part of life.
More than half of LGB youth have tried e-cigarettes.
Many Prides in California have already gone tobacco-free including San Francisco, San Diego, Santa Cruz, San Gabriel Valley and Bakersfield.
